The Willow Patterned plate is a product of Chinese influence on English pottery design and was produced in the 18C in England by Spode and has been reproduced all around the world.

The story behind it is an amalgam of fact, fiction and mythology. Regardless of the accuracy or historical significance of the story the children's play is a dramatic lyrical tale and this adaption enables both large and small groups to enjoy a full production or read the play in class.
